Interesting structure and different from usual Sneaky Pie fare. I really liked how it all turned out. The editing job wasn't up to speed IMO. There were lots of lazy sentences that should have been revised and even some typos. ( )

Really a long and tedious book and rather boring. Preachy on a number of topics. Slogged through it. I think this is my final Rita book. What a disappointment!!! ( )

Another great little cozy mystery by Rita Mae Brown. This Mrs Murphy tale is sure to please all cat lovers who also enjoy a good mystery. Delightful! ( )

After Mary Haristeen (Harry) finds the body of Govenor Holloway's nurse she is caught up in the mystery of her death and a mysterious break in.

I haven't read any of the Mrs. Murphy series before and since I love cozy mysteries I was excited when I was awarded this book by the ER program. It wasn't for me.
I felt the author was 'telling' me everything about the story instead of letting my imagination fill in some of the details.
I thought that the pets interactions were for the most part page filler. I think it distracted rather than enhanced the story.
I also felt that the going back and forth between the two time periods were distracting and I found myself resenting the modern day story because the early period story was so much more interesting.
I also am not a fan of politics especially with the precedential elections going on and all of the turmoil that followed it and this book had a lot of political aspects and lectures.

Maybe if I had read the series from the start it would have been better for me but I won't be reading another mystery from this series. ( )

I love a good mystery and Rita Mae Brown always delivers!!!!!! ( )
