All of us long to know what life after death will be like. Bestselling author John Burke is no exception. In Imagine Heaven, Burke compares over 100 gripping stories of near-death experiences (NDEs) to what Scripture says about our biggest questions of Heaven: Will I be myself? Will I see friends and loved ones? What will Heaven look like? What is God like? What will we do forever? What about children and pets? For decades, Burke has been studying accounts of survivors brought back from near death who lived to tell of both heavenly and hellish experiences. While not every detail of individual NDEs correlate with Scripture, Burke shows how the common experiences shared by thousands of survivors--including doctors, college professors, bank presidents, people of all ages and cultures, and even blind people--point to the exhilarating picture of Heaven promised in the Bible. This thrilling journey into the afterlife will make you feel like you've been there. It will forever change the way you view the life to come and the way you live your life today. You'll discover Heaven is even more amazing than you've ever imagined.… (más)

A very interesting read about experiences people of all ages, races, and nationalities have had where so many elements are in common. Hard not to believe and I think this book would be a great comfort to those with limited time and those who have lost a loved one. ( )

I would highly recommend this book. My only complaint would be that towards the book it seems to get repetitive. This makes it tough to get through the end of the book.

But I like the layout of the book. I never felt that Mr. Burke was ever drawing us to a certain belief system. He seemed to just layout the facts and draw conclusions based on the stories themselves, never comparing them to a specific belief system. ( )

Good with NDE stories. A little too preachy. ( )

The claim that Near Death Experiences give us a glimpse of heaven is not only addressed in a what-if way in this book. That’s not Burke’s purpose. He just wants to point out in a sober manner that what many experience in an NDE is paralleled by afterlife descriptions in the Bible. It’s not a proof of the unknown, but an encouragement to face the inevitable with hope and peace. ( )

It's a great look into what Heaven is like. It helped everyone in the group get their eyes off the here and now and start living with an eternal perspective. Helped us recognize what's important and what really isn't. I continue to hear regularly guys referring back to this book, even months after we read it. The book will certainly stick with you and will help you prioritize your life by having a better understanding of our eternal life to come.
