From a privileged European background, Karin Holstein develops psoriasis as a child. While studying in Paris, she meets Jean-Louis, a plastic surgeon thirty years her senior, with whom she falls deeply in love. He helps to shape her modeling career, and although he is more important to her than any career, she rearranges her life to please him until tragedy ends their relationship.
