It just got to be one misunderstanding after another. When they finally got together I thought YES, finally we are making relationship progress. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be....more misunderstandings. I would have enjoyed it more had they been a team fighting all their demons together at some point. All in all a good book though. ( ) I love all Mia Sheridan’s books. This one about a marriage of convenience fell a little flat for me, even though I still thought it was good. It was just different from what I’m used to reading from her. It’s always hard for me to warm up to the male main character in a story when he starts out being cruel. Also, the lead female character, Kyra, seemed over the top naïve. Side note: I didn’t love the pet names, though I can see how they came to play later in the story. I still enjoyed this book. I wish the characters had the depth we usually get from Ms. Sheridan’s books. 3.5/5 Stars. Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books, Bloom Books for this complimentary ARC. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. I really wanted to like this book but i found the 'hero's attitude very uncomfortable. He's hurt and 'damaged' and this seems to be an excuse for him to be extremely cruel to the heroine in the story. Fair enough in the beginning, he doesn't know her so he makes assumptions and says nasty stuff and treats her like dirt, as part of the story you accept that BUT as the plot grows and as with every story line there are secrets and when those secrets come out the 'hero' is hurt Fair enough he erupts on the heroine but he is soooo cruel, he knows her weaknesses and her past and uses it all in his arsenal of attack and the way he behaves, even though he's sorry later, is awful. She's 'damaged' too and he rips open all her wounds. Even if he can apologise, surely this reveals something in his personality that is so unpleasant it is worth walking away from. The heroine is far too nice for him and it made uncomfortable reading. To me this isn't entertainment, it was too painful, i don't mind they have had bad experiences in life but to be treated the way he treats her is not acceptable even if he's sorry. I don't know where to start with this story. At first, I felt a little let down because of the business arrangement. I was sad because I thought that Mia had written the ole cliche' proposal book... I was gladly proved wrong very quickly. This was in no way a cliche', and I couldn't have been any happier about that! What can I tell you about this story? Let's start with the writing. Spot. On. Mia writes this story with such purpose and meaningful words. Her characterization of the characters makes them feel so real; their story so real. Her writing, as usual, is flawless. The story is woven together so beautifully, it reads quickly and effortlessly. The characters... well... I went back and forth on these characters. Do I like them? Do I not like them? At some points I may have had some dislike. However, mostly I liked them... tremendously. How could one not? All of the characters' voices are written with such purpose and dignity. They are strong and unwaivering. Just how characters' voices should be. The storyline is phenomenal. The twists and turns of the events is like a well-woven blanket. It cannot be destroyed, just like this story. It is profound and given to us with such a force, we are forced into the world of Grayson and Kira. And we can't help but to enjoy the ride. Now, the only flaw-ish thing was I expected to feel more emotion, mainly sadness and overwhelming joy to cure that sadness. Now, there may have been a couple places where I was cursing Mia for making my eyes water, but overall, I didn't get the gut-wrenching emotions I usually do with Mia's books. Don't get me wrong. There are sad parts, they just didn't break my heart. (I know, I wanted to have my heart broken... say whaaaat!) To sum it up. The story-line is freaking fantastic. The delivery is flawless. The characters rock. I guess you can say this is a pretty awesome book. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
