I can see what he means, that our sedentary lifestyles are slowly killing us and I'm really feeling it this summer between un-Irish hot and Yoga break I can feel my joints stiffening and my weight is rising, I'm spending too much of my time trying to breathe and do basic stuff rather than being active.
The Good: He wants people to have a good life and this did remind me to sit up better at my desk rather than slouch and let myself go.
The Bad: He assumes people understand his jargon. Smashing a muscle? Flossing? He has a quick explination but I just didn't grok it. I honestly would need someone to run me through the exercises hands on, to really get them and ensure that I was doing them right. I have damage around my body from a variety of things in my life and I am often afraid of doing more damage than helping the mess.
Some work places are not condusive to standing and I do try to get up and not ignore the prompt from my fitbit on a regular basis but if management drop by you can't just walk away from them to do your 250 steps.
There is also a certain amount of ableism and ignoring degenerative diseases, he does sometimes mention how you can adjust them within your own limits the implication is that everyone could get to the point of the full stretches.
Sometimes it rankled, I wanted to like it but somehow I wasn't really taken by it. I think it's a perfect library loan book for people to borrow, try and then buy if the exercises work for them.
Sitting may be bad for you but it's not the new smoking, smoking ruins other people's health as well as your own and anyone who pretends otherwise is fooling themselves. ( )
