My life was meticulously planned, and I refused to deviate from that path. While my peers were partying, I prepared for the future. Then a tragic event destroyed everything, and I learned that while I was looking ahead, I forgot to live in the moment.Starting over seemed impossible until I met Cara McCarthy, who lived every day like it was her last. She opened my eyes to a world of chaos and disorder. I loved every minute of it. She was also dating Tristan Adams, one of the most gorgeous men I'd ever seen. The three of us became inseparable. Our parents were oblivious, and soon lines became blurred, feelings began to grow, and someone's heart was going to get broken. I hoped it wasn't mine.… (más)
I want to start by telling you that I was apprehensive about reading this book. I am not one for f/f, m/m, etc. But it is Teresa-freaking-Mummert.... So I took the chance. I prayed that I was able to not only read it but to like it too! To say I was nervous is an understatement. I haven't read a book of Teresa's that I haven't been in love with!!!! Well, my prayers were answered. This book isn't like any other f/f book I have attempted to read, at all! So if you are having reservations, don't. I promise, it is NOTHING like you are thinking. Don't let the f/f scare you off!
I always struggle with reviews. I never want to give too much away, but I want to convince you to read a book when I love it. So how do I convince you that you need to 1-click this book pronto? This book isn't a hot and steamy story about two people with primal needs. This isn't a depressing story that will make you want to slit your wrists.... It's somewhere in-between... Well... not really but really. It's a story of two teenage girls who both are lost in life, who are alone in the world; just trying to find their way through the rest of their teenage lives.
Ellie, poor Ellie. Her mother was all she had until she was murdered during a robbery. Now she has been sent to live with her father... A man she doesn't know. She is now a part of a family that she knows nothing about.
Cara. The sinner. The "slut". The one no one wants. She, too, is alone but for entirely different reasons. Her parents have turned their backs on her because they don't like who she is. She is distant but a party girl.
Tristan. What can I say about him? I didn't like him from the start. Typical rich frat boy disguising himself as a gentleman. I saw through him instantly. I would have loved to nut-punch him many times in the book. Then there was that one time... that one time where I wanted to murder him.... slowly, painfully!
Brody. Sweet Brody. The "player" but not really a player. I liked him from the start. He is sweet and genuine. He isn't ashamed of who he is. He doesn't hide behind any masks. In my eyes, he is the true hero in this book. You will see why when you read this book.
This story of heart break, loneliness, loss and acceptance is one that I could not put down. I read it in almost one sitting. As always, Teresa uses her genius to get you to fall in love with her characters so easily. It's like second nature to be drawn in instantly with Teresa's writing. The realistic connection I always feel with her writing is uncanny. Not many authors can get you to connect and feel the characters like she can!
I tip my virtual hat to you, Teresa. Kudos all of the way around. This book is a step away from your "norm" (if there is a such thing) and a leap. In today's society so many still show such hatred and disgust towards same sex relationships. I love that you wrote this book in the most enlightening, realistic, tactful way. I freaking loved every second of this story. Yet again, you have written a story that will swim around in my brain for a while. Now please excuse me while I continue drinking the kool-aid. :)
To sum it up.... READ this dang book. Read it SOON. You will NOT be disappointed! ( )
