I thought this was a great book that any child would enjoy! It has many hidden pictures for kids to explore. Learn about the rainforest and everything it has to offer such as frogs, jaguars, and the plants that it grows. I really think this would keep any child's attention. Give them a flashlight and have them discover what the tree forest has to offer. I think it would work best reading to a smaller group of children so they can each take turns holding the flashlight. As part of the shine-a-light series, this book consists of pages that have a little bit of text and a rather blank area on one page, with the purpose of having a flashlight shone through the other side of the page to reveal an image in that open area on the front. Then readers can turn the page and read more details about the image that was revealed by flashlight, generally an animal or a plant. Since this book is about the rainforest, the "hidden" images and details revolved around animals that live in this special environment. The gimmick to the book heighten's a young reader's interest in the topic, and keeps them engaged as they learn more details about the rainforest's flora and fauna. This is another good addition to a nice series, and my daughters are fans, as am I. ( )
