Cute, fun (although at times annoying) book. I didn't like it nearly as much as My Own Mr. Darcy by the same author, but it was entertaining and sweet. ( )

Last year I read My Own Mr. Darcy by Karey White and was immediately taken in by the sweet romance of a woman trying to find her own happily ever after. So, I jumped after the chance to read her latest book The Husband Maker. While there is no Mr. Darcy, or anyone that resembles him, this book will be sure to appease everyone who has ever had trouble finding Mr. Right.

Charlotte is called "The Husband Maker" because after every breakup her ex ends up finding "Mrs. Right" in his next relationship. She's not the only one that notices this pattern, in fact she's earning quite a reputation. Discouraged, Charlotte doesn't want to date anyone anytime soon, but her friends have other ideas. That's where Kyle comes in. Kyle seems like the complete package, but there's something standing in the way of her happiness. Charlotte has to decide if Kyle is her Mr. Right.

I enjoyed reading this book as much as I did My Own Mr. Darcy. Karey White writes characters that will resonate with many people. You will laugh, you will cry. You will become a cheerleader for Charlotte. While I did like this book, there were a few things that didn't sit well. The biggest one was the cliffhanger. At least the author won't make us wait too long. The sequel, The Match Maker, will come out later this year. If you're looking for a sweet romance to read, this is it!

Charlotte has had an active dating life, but she hasn't had a relationship that sticks yet. In fact, she's gotten a bit of a reputation as a "husband maker." Ever guy she has dated has married the next woman he dated after breaking up with Charlotte. People are starting to talk about it, and Charlotte is not pleased. When she finally decides to take a chance on someone her boss wants to set her up with, Charlotte is not prepared for what a good relationship she develops. Will this one finally be the one that lasts?

This is a fun, quick read. I'm not going to pretend like the plot was unpredictable or anything. I kind of saw where it was going fairly quickly. That didn't make it any less enjoyable. I found Charlotte to be very likable, and you couldn't help but want her to get what she wants out of life. I loved the relationships she had with friends and family. I actually knew a girl who had a reputation as a husband maker in college. I think she had dated like 5 guys who all went on to get married on their next relationship. Luckily she managed to find the perfect guy for her, and so I have no doubt Charlotte can manage the same thing.

I read this almost all in one sitting. Once I got into it I wanted to keep going, even having a strong feeling on where the plot was going (I was correct). For me the fun is in seeing how everyone gets there though, so that was a big reason I enjoyed it. Another thing I really enjoyed was a lack of the sorts of dumb decisions you see characters make in these books sometimes. These people were all smart and mature, and they did things for good reasons. I was never left scratching my head wondering why on earth someone would do that. There was never a poor decision to just move the plot along. I really enjoyed that. If there was one thing I didn't like, it was that the ending felt a little abrupt to me. I know the author was going for a cliffhanger feel, but I wanted to know what happens. In any case, this is a great book, and I will definitely be checking the next book in the series out.

Can a girl who has been called "the husband maker" ever find true love with a perfect man who will hopefully become her husband?

Charlotte is unlucky when it comes to love. Since high school, every guy that she has dated has gone on to marry the next girl they dated. When she overhears herself being called "The Husband Maker" by two women in a restroom, she questions why she can't find Mr. Right, and what has she done wrong. But when she meets Kyle Aldsworth, a Senator's son with political aspirations of his own, she is swept off her feet. Could this really be Charlotte's chance to get a husband of her own, is Kyle "The One," or will she be disappointed and have her heart broken once again?

The Husband Maker is the first book in The Husband Maker series that follows Charlotte's story of finding true love. Author Karey White weaves a wonderful contemporary romance story that is lighthearted, whimsical, and fun. It easily draws the reader into Charlotte's story as it unfolds with a nice mixture of clean romance, drama, and humor. I enjoyed following Charlotte's dating journey filled with dramatic ups and downs, and how she navigates her way through romances while discovering herself along the way.

The Husband Maker is a sweet romantic story and a nice beginning to a series that is sure to be delightful.

5 STARS

This is the first book out of three, so I knew it would not wrap up all tidy. But I really wanted it too. I will be wanting the next two books. I know what I want to happen but who knows what the next book is.

I was into the characters and even shed some tears along with them. The main character is Charlotte. Charlotte has dated a lot of guys and when she breaks up with them the next girl they date they end up marrying. Is the oldest of three, even if it is only 10 minutes older than her twin brother.

Kyle Aldsworth is older than Charlotte. He comes from a money and politics background. He is a fun date. His father is a senator.
Their dates are interesting. He works for the family business.

People behind Charlotte's back are calling her the husband maker. Which hurt her when she over hears gossip about her in the bathroom at a old boyfriend's wedding. Their are a lot of jokes about her boyfriends.

The setting for the book is San Francisco, CA

I laughed, cried and enjoyed the book. It is a clean read. It is a fast read, but leaves you wanting more now. I am glad I am not dating right now.

I was given this book for review and in exchange agreed to give honest review of it. All opinions are mine. ( )
