"Mirror of the Moon" is book two in the "Revenant Wyrd Saga". This portion continues where book one left off. Jovian has died by the hands of Porillion, at the same time they also see Amber with her but Porillion's wyrd is too strong, she's unable to break free. Jovian is taken to Whitewood Haven, where they encounter Lockelayter, leader of the elves of Whitewood. They place Jovian on a table to begin the ceremonial passage to their goddess and are visited by unicorns! This is where the adventure really begins as they voyage to Luminara and to the Mirror of the Moon! What can I say, book two is as awesome as the first one. It was fast paced and I could not put it down. In this book, we see even more fantasy creatures. I really love how they are each woven into the story and each has a different personality. I must admit, I can't wait to see what other twists and turns come up as this adventure continues. There's also the question that is driving me crazy, what are Angelica and Jovian? I hope we find out soon, they are amazing! If you haven't read books one, you really should, it's a really awesome epic fantasy! Warning this book is the second in series. If you do not read the first book The Bonds of Blood you will be lost. You have to read the first book there is not enough back story to help you through this magical world. That said book one was fantastic and had me hooked. Book 2 begins where we were left in book 1. And is just as enthralling as the first. The characters are muti faceted and marvelous to get to know. Especially Grace ( little partial to that name, it's my daughter's name), she is a mystery full of secrets and intrigue and power. Love writers who include strong women not the whiny insipid damsel in distress. These books are full of strong women. Well written and very described. I felt like I was there on horseback with the five travelers. If you like fantasy, magic, mystery and intrigue read this series. It would make a great movie. (Hint Hint) Now i'm going to read book 3. Looking forward to it. It starts off where book 1 ended. They have ended up in the mountains with the elves and dwarves with Jovian passing minute by minute. Grace not wanting to answer questions until she feels like it, and the rest just falling apart. The quads are separated and they are working to find the lost sisters and make sure they stay alive in the process, and also fix the wyrd from going all dark. Nothing to drastic right? Very good read, keeps a steady pace and the writing brings you into the story and world created. I know I have a new series to love. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. To be honest, there were many things to like about this series. The author obviously spent a lot of time building the back story and the world, to the point where the Revenant Saga reads like a sequel series. We start out with just a handful of characters and as the story progresses, we end up with tons of them. Really, anyone who has attempted any form of writing will know that juggling multiple PoV characters is not an easy feat. Unfortunately, that's about all that is good about the book. Due to the elaborate world we're being introduced to, there's a lot of brutal information dumping right from Chapter 1 of Book 1, delivered in the form of a teacher, Grace asking the four Neferis "children" questions about the world and receiving answers from them. There's not much of a problem in that, except that these "children" are twenty-year-olds about to celebrate their twenty-first birthday. I'll admit that this is one of the leading cause for a huge chunk of my extreme annoyance at the book. Mostly, they act like kids between thirteen to fifteen years of age. Their knowledge and behaviors, as well as their curriculum and the way others treat them were certainly more in line with those of kids in their early teens instead of youths entering adulthood. I mean, what twenty-one year old would spend time sitting in a class learning about world history instead of actually working and helping out at their father's plantation? Also, in a world like theirs, I would expect a twenty-one to be quite familiar with hunting. Then, their oldest sibling gets abducted and they all go off on an expedition to get her back but instead of being grim with determination, they all feel excited to be out on an adventure. The first village they come across, they stay and participate in the local celebration instead of resting, replenishing their supplies and making haste to move on. There are many characters, but most of them feel more like cardboard characters spewing dialogue for the sake of forwarding the plot. What this means is that three quarters of what the characters say are things that one would never say under normal circumstances. Of course, if they didn't speak and act the way they did, the next part of the plot couldn't come about, so they absolutely must act in this manner that makes no sense. On top of that, the villains are absolutely villainous, acting the way they do out of pure evil and and the greed of power. Did I mention they must all go on at length about the brilliance of their evil scheme and cackle with maniacal laughter? On the other hand, our heroes are so good, they must be saints. That, except for the fact that Angelica and Jovian insists on keeping a whole load of information to themselves, including information that is probably best shared with their more knowledgeable teacher and details that may be vital to saving their sister. Also, who said that one should take on the family name of the more well-known parent? I mean, it's entirely acceptable to say that you are a descendant of X's bloodline but to go to the extent of changing your last name? That feels a little harsh. It's like you're denouncing your father simply because your mother was someone greater. Book 1 is available for free on Amazon and to be honest, it's my own fault for not reading that book first before requesting for this book because if I did, I would never have requested for this one. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

There is never a dull moment as the book is fast pacing and obviously we get to know even more about the four siblings, Jovian, Angelica, Joya and Amber. The character development is brilliant and the creatures in this only got better. I loved the fantasy world that Mr Simmons created.
I would recommend reading The Bonds of Blood before reading this one though as it may cause confusion if you haven't.
I will of course be reading the next instalment as I can't get enough of this series.
