He can't have her. But no one can know why...

Ski racer Dane "Danger" Hollister does not do relationships, though he keeps his reason a secret. The real-life curse he's inherited from his mother will eventually cost him everything: his place on the Olympic ski team, his endorsement income, and his ability to fly downhill at top speed.

Reluctant country girl Willow Reade meets Dane by accident. Literally. Her skidding truck forces him off the road during a blizzard. Stranded together in his Jeep as night falls, the two loneliest people in Vermont find themselves sharing more than they'd planned. And not just conversation.

Yet neither can guess how their unlikely tryst will threaten Dane's frightening secret and Willow's tentative peace with her own choices.

"Bowen writes great dialogue and wonderfully realistic characters." â??Sarah Wendell for Kirkus

"A powerful, redemptive love story that churned my insides, but also left me absolutely satisfied." â??The Bookish Babe… (más)

I'm a fan of Sabrina Bowen - Him, to start with - but narrator Maxine Mitchell. No. Listened to just a small part of this but I can't abide her style of narration. And there wasn't enough of Joe Arden. ( )

I randomly picked this book up from my library because the cover drew me in. I thought it might be a New Adult read but it is actually an Adult Contemporary read. I've read a few New Adult reads about being trapped in a storm so I was interested to see what would happen in an Adult Contemporary novel. Plus: I have never read a book about a professional skier and his "faulty DNA" so that drew me in.

I enjoyed reading this book but there was nothing "WOW" about it. It was your classic insta-romance though it had some interesting twists to it that added some realism to it. I liked the characters despite the insta-romance--they felt like a good match; but like most "insta-romance" books I wish that there was more interaction between the two of them.

This book was more a romance and the drama associated with the romance more than anything. That wasn't a bad thing either: it was a cute, quick romance that tackled some serious issues like genetic diseases.

I'm not sure what the sequel will be about; I am assuming it will be about another set of characters. I'll check it out if it comes to my library because I liked this book but I'm not in a huge rush to read it.

Overall: If you want a quick, steamy romance with two people that deal with some very real issues, this is a great book to pick up!

Great book...great series

I loved this book. Sarina Bowen has such a way with coming up with compelling story lines and beautifully flawed characters that you instantly fall in love with.
I was so excited to jump into this series and wasn't disappointed. I was hoping the story would have continued a little further, but maybe we'll get more of it in the next book.
Happy Reading....enjoy! ( )

5 stars. This novel utilizes several of the contemporary romance tropes that push all my hot buttons, but does them so well that I totally loved this story. Dane "Danger" Hollister, loosely modeled on Olympic skier Bodie Miller, has very solid reasons for the death-defying risks he takes, and his refusal to ever consider anything more than a one-night stand. Would-be psychologist turned struggling chicken farmer Willow Reade might be down on her luck but she's a go-getter who is willing to do whatever it takes to rescue herself.

I really loved that following an unplanned pregnancy, neither abortion nor adoption was off the table for Willow. I've noticed the disturbing (IMO) tendency of modern authors to play it safe; if there IS an unplanned pregnancy, it either ends in early miscarriage, or the heroine Would Never Consider Getting Rid of Her Baby. Regardless of what you believe about abortion, the reality is that almost all women faced with an unplanned pregnancy, or one that might entail serious health issues for the baby, DO consider abortion. (Even Sarah Palin considered it, so I've heard.) That Willow is given the freedom by the author to make her own choice, gives us a heroine much more real and likable.

Super hot, funny, ("Sex in a Jeep" as a bar drink *snort*) the characters were believable, likable, and while yes, mistakes were made by both of them, they weren't stupid. The snow and the skiing details drew me in and made me feel like I was there (can I blame the crick in my neck from that Jeep?). This author goes on my auto-buy list. ( )
