Marti Keller was married to the man of her dreams and had a satisfying career as an emergency room nurse. But a soul-shattering tragedy turns her world upside down, leaving her desperately clinging to the one precious thing left in her life. After her search for a work-at-home job leads her to rediscover her long-suppressed ability to communicate with ghosts, she encounters Spam, the restless spirit of a murder victim, who begs her to help bring his killer to justice. She agrees, but her life quickly spirals out of control. Even as she fears she is descending into madness, a mysterious stranger named Quinn steps in to catch her fall. He always seems to turn up just in the nick of time. It’s almost…preternatural. In fact, the more she discovers, the more she finds that everything she thinks she knows is wrong. And that the worst monsters are usually hidden in plain sight.… (más)

Marti is doing her best to get her life back on track after her husband dies in the line of duty. Despite still mourning her husband's death, she's trying to move on with her life and raise her baby daughter. After a little nudge from some new, and new-age, friends, Marti rediscovers her ability to communicate with ghosts, and she's pulled into helping a ghost solve his murder. There's also some fae trying to hunt down a Big Bad, and the murder is connected!

This was a fun, easy, light read that I was able to finish in just a few days. I look forward to reading more Marti Keller Mysteries! ( )

I won a copy on a library thing giveaway. Ryan and Marti are a great couple. Ryan is a cop. Marti works as an emergency room Nurse. A soul shattering tradegy turns her world upside down. She searches for a work at home job which leads her to rediscover her long lost ability to talk to ghosts. She encounters Spam who is a restless spirit of a murder victim, he begs her to help bring his killer to justice. She agrees to help him. She fears she is desending into madness, Quinn a mysterious stranger is always there just in the nick of time. The more she discovers the more she finds everything she thinks she knows is wrong. And that the worst Monsters are hidden in plain sight. A fantastic paranormal read. Fast moving a real page turner. Laugh out loud at times. If you love a great paranormal read i highly recommend you read a Hanged Man Wife. ( )

As a child I loved reading fairy tales with all they presented and even asked for the complete Andrew Lang series of Fairy Tales as a wedding gift. In those stories of my childhood there were good and bad entities, problems to overcome and usually a happy ending for at least one or more in the story. That is why my overall feeling about this story is that it is a fairy tale for adults with good overcoming evil, otherworldly creatures coming to earth to help out, a quest of sorts and a sort of prince and princess. Then, add into the mix some astral plane events, predetermination of who and what life lesson you will have while on earth, mediums, witches, guardian angels and spirit guides and you might get just a taste of what this story holds in store for those who read it. The only quibble I might have is that in the first chapter or so I had a bit of trouble sorting out who was who and just what each one was but by persevering I had a wonderful read and met some very interesting characters. While the romantic element is a little predictable, “The Hanged Man’s Wife”'s murder mystery is not and uses mystical realism to tell the story. Everyone is there: ghosts, fae, djinns, kelpies, and werewolves all representing the supernatural from different cultures. Greenleaf blends the voices of the two main characters, Marti (told in first person) and Quinn (told in 3rd person) nicely by using alternating chapters. Both characters are empathetic and likeable. This character-driven story with its balance of humor, suspense, and mystery with a twist of romance delivers a quick paced tale that doesn’t disappoint. ( )

Marti and Ryan seemed a perfect couple but the death of one leads the other to have an adventure like no other. With Quinn, shift changers, Spam ghost, Dililah a spirit, miscellanous zombies, djinni?? and werewolves. It just kept getting more exciting. Enjoyed ( )
