This book tells the story of a young girl named Posy who is moving away from her two best friends, Megan and Mae. The story starts out with all three characters fairly sad about Posy moving however they are still looking for the bright side of the situation. They are all sickened by the thought of having to say goodbye to their dear friend so eventually they begin to make a pie to cheer themselves up. They then come up with the idea to have a “good-pie” party instead of a good bye party. The three girls end the party almost in tears however they then accept the reality of Pose leaving and feel lucky to have ever been such great friends in the first place. This emotional journey each of these characters go through is quite a roller coaster. At such a young age change can be a scary thing and I feel this book represent the perfect way for children to handle such a sudden change like moving. The characters express their emotions openly while at the same time offering a positive perspective on the situation. I think this would would be a great book to read to any child going through a rough, emotional time of change. ( ) This is a story about Posy Peyton, a girl whose family is moving away. She is sad because she will have to leave her friends behind. She doesn't want to pack her things. One day while looking for something too do, she and her friends realize that everything is packed, except the things in the kitchen. So they decided to make a pie. Posy comes up with an idea- she will have a pie party. She sends out invitations to all her friends and on the day of the party, everyone brings a pie. She is still sad, but she feels a little better after the pie party. A charming play with language - a good-pie party instead of a good-bye party for a girl who doesn't want to dismantle her club house and leave her friends. Although I don't care for the cartoonish expressions of the characters, what's significant about the illustrations is that one of the three friends is overweight. There is absolutely no mention of weight; it has no bearing on the pie baking or eating. It just is -- and with the huge obesity problem among children, chubby young readers may well be pleased to see themselves in a book. One realizes how rarely one does see an overweight protagonist. Oh sure, an occasional grandma who is overweight but rarely a child. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Posy Peyton and her friends are very sad that she will be moving away, but when they try to cheer themselves up by baking a pie, they realize that Posy's leaving does not have to mean saying goodbye. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
