I'm not going to waste time re-iterating the back of the book blurb since a million reviewers have done this enough as it is. Pros: -Fast-paced -Unique setting -Post-apocalyptic pseudo art deco style -Shockingly timely message Cons: -TOO fast-paced -Characters too one-dimensional -Lots of dangling plot hooks and details This joins the small list of books where the film was better. French translation/Adapted into a movie and a tv show ("Le Transperceneige" in French) I absolutely loved the movie and it was interesting seeing how different the movie was from the graphic novel. The tv show is likely similar to the book, although I cannot say for sure. (I do intend to watch it at some point because I love Daveed Diggs). The Snowpiercer is a train that travels the earth after an environmental catastrophe causes the world to freeze over. The people on board are, presumably, the only people left alive in the entire world. The book follows two main characters on their journey from the back of the train to the front of the train, where they realize the cars ahead get better food and treatment than the cars in the back. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

"From fearsome engine to final car, all surviving human life is here: a complete hierarchy of the society we lost. The elite, as ever, travel in luxury at the front of the train - but for those in the rear coaches, life is squalid, miserable and short. Now the poor have had enough: it's time to seize control of the engine - and their future!" -- No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

All I'll add to this is how much the disturbing lack of transitions from time to time or place to place or, in some cases conversation to conversation irritated the crap out of me. I don't mind working a bit to get through a story, but when I'm completely popped out of the story, that's a whole other thing.
Overall, while a little silly, the concept's okay. The art is okay. The dialogue is pretty awful, but that could be put down to the translation. But enthralling? No. Thought-provoking? No.
There's a lot better out there. Go find it. ( )
