Fantasy. Fiction. HTML:The Dragon Temple denies the role of dragonmaster to women, but Zarq is convinced that the doctrine allowing it has been deliberately lost to the obscurity of history. She begins a desperate search through the Temple's archives, while enduring the rigorous athletic training required of her apprenticeship. Her fellow apprentices are fiercely competitive, and her overlord, Waikar Re Kratt, has taken an unnerving interest in her.

In this book, the disjointed events of the previous two books are gathered together into a less than compelling story of rebellion. At this point the world is just annoying, more a vocabulary lesson than description. The main character remains isolated from any sort of interesting relationship, and whiny as ever. ( )

the sequel to Touched by Venom--this book is much less gloom and doom and things actually happen to move the character towards her goal. ( )

Second in the series, dark, difficult world, beautifully executed. Zarq is a complex protagonist, young, abandoned, addicted to Dragon venom. She lives in a brutal world and is changing it painfully. I loved it. ( )
