It's a life journey I wouldn't have wished for her (and as a teenager after reading her book and watching the movie I was certain, hopefully that she was going to beat her addiction and her habits). But having lived about 30 years longer, I know life doesn't work that way. It still attacks and tries to get you, no matter how well your intentions are.
Reading this book made me involuntary compare the media attention for her in Germany with the media attention for princess Diana. Unwanted, having unforeseen consequences.
I still don't know whether she's still alive, I think I'll use Google to see if I can get more information on that.
All in all I liked the book. Part going back to her youth, part telling the story after, knowing that 'If I had.....' would probably have altered the course of her life. But a she's still a strong woman, who knows her lifestyle ruined her health, limits her days to be lived and limits her ability to live a life that's more free. And that's something she mostly only blames herself for. ( )
