What happens when a riveting murder occurs among the good, yet ordinary, citizens of small-town America already trying to deal with the extraordinary events of a memorable era? AS AN OLD Midwestern courthouse clock tower ticks away the time, a young school teacher is murdered and her killer seemingly goes free that is, until he meets with a highly unexpected outcome. The year is 1936 the height of the Great Depression in Warrensburg, Missouri. Times are hard and the nation's banks are just beginning to come out of the worst banking crisis in our nation's history. A strong woman is able to save one local bank . . . but can she save herself, as the clock tower continues to tick away the time? "The Chief and Clarence went down the steps to the basement of the funeral home. There was a stench of chemicals in the air, even though an exhaust fan vented out into the alley behind the building. Up toward the front was a long stainless steel table with a floodlight over it. There was a sheet covering the body on the table, and Lester sat on a stool beside the table writing on a clipboard. He quickly glanced up when he heard their footsteps on the stairs. Chief,' he yelled, I think I know how she died . . .'" "Don't get started on GOTCHA! unless you plan on staying up all night reading this engrossing page-turner!" Bill Wilkinson, - Fuquay Varina, NC… (más)
