I knew this, and I had proof that the Karma Fairy was out to get me, yet when a beautiful French intern started willingly spending time with a young, awkward gaming nerd (that would be me), I didn't look for the punch line. I was too busy breathing a sigh of relief. I thought, once again, that the worst was over. I was getting the hang of the whole magic thing. I was getting in shape, had a well paying, (if soul-polluting) job, and a cool new little sister, I just assumed no one was trying to kill me. The punchline, when it came, was sharp and deadly and aimed at my heart.
