This book was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Judith Malina, Brad Burgess, and the more than fifty members of The Living Theatre ensemble. This book is the culmination of over a year and a half of work with the ensemble of The Living Theatre. I would like to thank the other photographers whose work has contributed to this book: Chantelle Lucier, Kennedy Yanko, and my aunt Erika Kreisman. Thanks also to Dawnja Burris of The New School for Public Engagement for her advice on the project. Founded over sixty years ago, The Living Theatre is the oldest theatre company still under its original director in New York City and the United States. Soon to be 84 years old, Judith is still delighting audiences with brilliant and challenging new theatrical experiments and plays. "Red Noir" by Anne Waldman was steeped in espionage, intrigue, and double-crossed drama. The Living Theatre's next production, Korach, was an examination of the story of Moses and Korah from the Bible. The goal of this book of photos is to provide a visual context to The Living Theatre's work. This book shall serve as a lens through which to focus on the ever evolving and flourishing theatrical ensemble and its work. The book is divided into five chapters. Take a look at these images and see the life of The Living Theatre, America's oldest theatre ensemble working in the avant-garde tradition come alive on the page.… (más)
