A teenage student of magical combat gets put to the test against an evil god in the New York Times bestselling author's YA urban fantasy novel.

As a warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, I've battled the Reapers of Chaos beforeâ??and survived. But this time I have a Bad, Bad Feeling it's going to be a fight to the death. . .most likely mine.
Yeah, I've got my psychometry magic, my talking sword, Vic, and even the most dangerous Spartan on campusâ??Logan Quinnâ??at my side. But I'm still no match for Loki, the evil Norse god of chaos. I may be Nike's Champion, but at heart, I'm still just Gwen Frost, that weird Gypsy girl everyone at school loves to gossip about.
Then someone I love is put in more danger than ever before, and something inside me snaps. This time, Loki and his Reapers are going down for good . . .

WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS IS THE LAST BOOK I didn't approve that. I'm not ready to let go of the only high school I'd willing return to.

I suppose I will give props over the ending resolution (suck it Loki...but not Tom Hiddleston Loki. Reaper Loki. Very important distinction there) it made quite a bit more sense then I gave it credit it for at first. And wooo bloodthirsty battles.

But seriously how about a Short Story featuring Rory? Yes/yes?

This is the last book of this series. The last book in a Young Adult Urban Fantasy series that dealt with every mythology ever and had a high school I'd kill to go to. I'm not ready for this.

Let me fess up right now - I kind of wanted to smack Logan around...a lot...in the last couple of books. And maybe also Gwen a little bit. And all of their classmates. Many of their teachers. Some of the other adults. Really it was going to be a slapfest in general if no one got on the band wagon that shit was getting real.

Despite how much I enjoyed this series I sometimes felt a little frustrated with how these people kept trying to do something normal when every indicator pointed to normal would lead to travesty. I had a surreal moment when Gwen found out that some classmates were betting on whether the Reapers would attack at the dance or not. Because honestly? Gwen was right, it wasn't even a close bet. They would because their MO was basically 'You want normal stuff? That's gotta stop right here while we just do something even more horrifying then last time'. I was so happy someone at least seemed to acknowledge it.

One of the strongest points for this series has always been Gwen's friends and the adults in her life. I know that sounds odd considering I wanted to slap them all around, but none of that had anything to do with how they were with each other. Gwen began the series as your typical outcast loner type. She had little enough interest in making friends and in the beginning they had little interest in making friends with her. But over the course of the six books (and numerous side stories), we've seen that Gwen doesn't just need her friends because it may have been foretold that way, she needs them because they keep her grounded. Without them she can't find her center and motivation (she was, in many ways, becoming very much like her cousin Rory).

The climatic battle between Gwen and Loki is, as you can imagine, rather epic. And the resolution is purely Gwen. When Gwen realized what she had to do it became very obvious was she was chosen as Nike's champion. Its hard to imagine that anyone else could have come up with such a perfect solution.

I did cry. This book isn't without its moments of heartfelt sadness and emotions. While I can say that by in large it ends on a good note, its not without lots of consequence.

And I really have to wonder at the body count in this series total. Because we're once again treated to the Red Shirt Brigade (aka the Reapers) as they just THROW themselves at Gwen's group. Literally. If the Reapers had trained half as hard as Gwen's group they may have had a better shot, but other then some fancy sword work the rank and file members all really kind of sucked. ( )

I thought that this book did a fantastic job of wrapping up an incredibly entertaining series. I have spent the past 5 months working my way through this series and I was eager to see how things would work out. This story had all of the action, excitement, romance, and god/goddess appearances that I hoped to see. I was very satisfied with the way that things worked out.

This book picks up shortly after the events of the previous installment. This is the sixth and final book in the Mythos Academy series which I would recommend reading in order. Gwen is just trying to live a normal life but with Loki on the loose, I knew that things wouldn’t stay calm for long. Loki and the Reapers want an artifact so they are all being moved to Gwen’s school so she can use her magic to figure out which one they are after. When they can’t get the artifact, someone Gwen loves is placed in danger and Gwen will do anything to keep them safe.

This book kept me guessing. I couldn’t wait to see how Gwen would finally take care of Loki and I loved that there were a few surprises along the way. Gwen has grown a lot over the course of this series and I was impressed by how many now look to her as a leader. Her group of friends was amazing in this book and made sure to support her when she needed it most.

Tara Sands has been the voice of this series and has book an amazing job of bringing these characters to life. I love the fact that the character voices have been very consistent throughout the series. I think that she is able to add a lot of excitement and emotion to her reading. I listened to this book for hours at a time and do believe that her narration added to my enjoyment of the story.

I would not hesitate to recommend this book to others. I thought that this was an incredibly well-done series that had me reaching for my headphones time and again. I definitely plan to read more of this talented author’s work soon.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Kensington Books and purchased a copy of the audiobook. ( )

I just loved all the books in the series and this was a great finale to the books. There was great action scenes, good build to the end and Estep did great tying up those loose ends to finish the book off. I enjoyed all the characters in the book especially Gwen, Logan, Daphne, Metis, Nickamedes, Grandma Frost and so forth.

These were a great series of books to read and I would recommend them to anybody who loves the Mythology genre. Jennifer Estep did a great job between mixing the mythology aspect, the action, the drama, the romance, that it just made these a kick-ass series. ( )

I'm so sad to see the series end, but I'm happy that it was a good ending. ( )
