It has a Scholastic Readability level of PreK-K. The illustrations lack detail and style, which makes them boring in my opinion. The story is about a pigeon who really wants a puppy, but he knows nothing about owning a puppy. He believes that he can only water it once a month and give it plenty of sunlight. When the pigeon finally receives the puppy, he realizes that puppies are usually bigger than the pigeon is, slobbery, hairy, have teeth, and claws. After realizing this, the pigeon changes his mind and wants a walrus. This story could be used to teach students the importance of learning more about something before we ask for it. Pets are a big responsibility, so we have to be fully ready to take care of them by understanding their needs. It also has a good moral lesson of being careful what you wish for, which is likely how I would use the story in my classroom. However, I doubt if I will ever use it. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
