I never knew that Orchids were so informative. There is so much about them that I never knew. My sister inherited Orchids from her mother in law. One her father in law grew from seed. So I was fascinated by this plot. The medical drama plot was also interesting to me because I know very little about medical terminology. The Terrorist plot reminded me of WarGames. One person can make a huge difference, good or bad. I recommend this book for mystery, spy, medical and regular thriller fans. I am giving this book a 5/5. It kept me reading and questioning all the characters until the very end.
I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own.

This book has a great story. It starts out quickly with a murder. It gives no immediate clue who did it or why, which I love. I don't mind knowing who the murderer is in a book at times, but the best ones are often the ones where you are as clueless as the people trying to figure it out in the story. This book does that very well. I enjoyed that there was more to the story line than just the murder. Terrorists, military, and the Dr. being framed, all go hand in hand to make this a thrilling book.

The reason I only gave this story four stars is that I just couldn't lose myself entirely into the book. I don't know exactly what the issue was. The writing is good, the characters are believable, and the story line is engaging, but I kept finding myself not completely lost in the story. Maybe I was just having one of my off days.

I recommend this book for any adult reader that likes a good thriller or murder mystery. This contains graphic scenes of violence as well as many graphic sex scenes.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy for review. Regardless, all opinions are my own and were in no way influenced. I was not required to write a positive review. ( )

With all the changes in healthcare and insurance these days I have noticed that more and more doctors are switching from giving medical care to writing fiction--I am not sure this is a good sign but they sure can write!

This is definitely a book that has twists and turns and counter turns. It was hard to keep up with who were the good guys and who the bad since the lines seemed to blur. An intriguing novel about terrorists both from the US and from the Middle East and how a hospital administrator and plastic surgeon, once long time friends turn into bitter enemies. Be careful how you treat people-it may come back to haunt you. I'm really not sure how Orchids come into play but there is a lot of information about them at the beginning of each chapter. The plastic surgeon grows them in his surgical suite. The title of the book is easier to understand. A Not for Profit Hospital is being sold out--to become a Profit Hospital which would essentially deny services to those most needing them. ( )

This is an amazing book that ties in drama, mystery, love, and even terrorist activity from around the world to right back home in the Bible Belt! It is riveting, intriguing, and Dr. Shepard expertly parallels the life cycles of different orchids with what is going on in the book. This book had me captivated until the last word, and then had me begging for more! ( )

Looking for a thriller to pass the time between now and Thanksgiving? Look no more! Not for Profit by Glenn Shepard, MD is a look into a mysterious world filled with terrorism, hospital, and intrigue. Not for Profit starts off slowly, but rapidly draws you in as you look for the what seems like a tenuous connection between Dr. James Scott, the terrorist cell, and a hospital administrator. ( )
