"Twas the night before Christmas, and dozens of rich, influential hostages are trapped inside a sprawling lakefront mansion in New Orleans. The perp? Detective Reed Ware, model cop turned outlaw. After receiving a panicked call from Hollis "Holly" Bayard, a teenage street tough with a penchant for amateur sleuthing who stumbles upon the scene of a drug-deal-turned- murder, Ware finds his and his friend's lives in dire danger. The crime Holly witnessed could be the biggest police cover-up this side of New Orleans -- and no one's talking. Driven to desperate measures to uncover the truth, Ware stages a coup at a Christmas party for the New Orleans elite, including the mayor, the council chairman, the sheriff, and the superintendent of police, who just happens to be hostage negotiator Caroline Wallace's estranged father. Cool, calm, controlled. That's Caroline's reputation. But when she's brought in to talk Ware off the proverbial ledge, she realizes no amount of false promises is going to placate this man, who looks even hotter than he did years ago when seventeen-year-old Caroline tried to seduce him. It was his duty to protect her family then. Now it's her turn. if she can think fast enough over the pounding of her heart. When Caroline becomes wrapped up in the drama, it's clear the sizzling tension she shared with Ware never let up. Review: Hunted by Karen Roberts.

A well written book and well develop characters. What made it a fast moving story was the creative way the author organized the events that made me turn the pages to see what is happening around the corner. There was no repetitive in the story and no clues to what was coming next. All the events just happened, one event after another blending in at the right time and kept the suspense high and exciting. The story is about a hostage situation that had some humor to it in a weird way.

The only issue for me was the graphic sexual scenes were to long for the romance scenes. It took to much time away from the plot. All the chaos, happenings and events were
fabulous. This was an entertaining story in a New Orleans setting which enhanced the story. The two main characters, Reed and Caroline took the story from page one to the last page establishing a great, fun adventure with a lot of action. ( )

An easy read. A mystery/drama with romance thrown in. Of course everything works out in the end. ( )

In New Orleans on Christmas Eve, hostage negotiator, Caroline Wallace, is called to the scene when a cop, Detective Reed Ware, takes hostage many of the city's VIPs who are attending a party at a lakefront mansion. Caroline knows Reed from years ago and knows him as a good guy. She can't imagine what has driven him to do this. When Reed escapes from the mansion, he kidnaps Caroline. While they are on the run, Caroline is determined to find out the story behind Reed's actions. She is also still fighting the attraction she has always felt for him.

This was a very enjoyable story and I thought it had an original storyline in making the hero appear to be the villain. There was a lot of action, it was fast-paced, had loads of sexual tension, and held some surprises for me. I liked the setting in New Orleans during the Christmas holiday. It made for a very entertaining read. ( )

Loved Hunted! It was very sexy, hot, steamy, fast paced, and full of suspense! Lots of chemistry between Reed (homicide detective) and Caroline (cop and daughter of police sergeant).

I listened to the audio book and it was right on with the slow southern New Orleans Big Easy accent. I adore Cassandra Campbell and this was my first time listening to MacLeod Andrews (Narrators)-they were a perfect pair –listening to the wee hours of the morning to see how it ended!

Reed lost his ex-wife and son in an accident more than 3 yrs ago and finds himself fired and at the beginning of the book and is holding a mansion full of people hostage. Holly and Ant are two young teen boys he has befriended and he is trying to help them after their mom was murdered. He knows the police had something to do with it and when he explains he was fired. He decides to take matters into his own hands.

Caroline had a crush on Reed more than 10 yrs. earlier when she was a teen. Her attraction for him still exists and now that she is older Reed feels the same. She is sent to the mansion on Christmas Eve and Reed not only escapes – he takes Holly and Caroline with him. Caroline knows Reed is a good cop so she decides to help him. Little does she know at the time, her father is also involved?

Karen Robards is at the top of her game with Hunted and one I would highly recommend – if you hate police corruption – you will love it! Caroline and Reed are strong independent characters and so hot together- Highly recommend!
