With lots of adventure, a runaway bride and decoding clues, they get to do it all. Hannah ran away from the Diviner to get away from him as she was only 14 and considered as his wife and expecting a baby. She was dropped by the Diviner's son, Daniel (also her no longer husband) at a home for unwed mothers for hiding. She knew it would be a matter of time before he sent someone searching for her and she had left without telling anyone. Where she went next, will surprise you! Wikarski’s third installment in the Arkana series, The Dragon’s Wing Enigma, carries readers over and through mountains of historical information, yet still manages to hold eyes to its pages in enjoyment. Those who read to simply pass the time and do not enjoy the wonders of real substance in a work will shy away from this read, but it would be his or her loss. Wikarski continues the thrills and her success with this Mystery. The work begins with a log of “need-to-know” names and terms, which helps clarify background for those readers that may be walking in on the story through this book. Each turn of the tale, or pass of the view, carries readers further into the world of history, intrigue, and mystery encased in this highly detailed work. The plot is easy to follow, yet is far from mundane. Though there are numerous historical and mythological references, their relevance is substantial enough that each only serves to enrich the tale instead of distracting readers. Each character is rich and full, being human enough to make mistakes, and not always self-aware enough to learn from those mistakes. Where many works of fiction hold a single or duo of characters to the literary light, Wikarski casts a multitude of characters upon the proverbial water. Most of the cast is split into two opposing sides, but a tale cannot thrive with a bit of conflict. In many instances, the more conflict there is, the better the story. This was an amazing thrill-ride that kept me on the edge of my seat! I love the fact that there was a riddle to decipher. The characters are so interesting, and of course Cassie, the main character was just so sweet. She’s still trying to find herself yet cares so much about her friends. I loved how Hannah’s naivety showed up even in parts I didn’t think of. N. S. Wikarski is an excellent storyteller! This was an awesome Historical Adventure, now I can’t wait for book 4!
