Ken Follett always delivers a good story and this book is no exception despite the fact that from the very beginning the thought that the terrorist group The Hammer of Eden would succeed seemed preposterous and subsequently the outcome of the story seemed inevitable and predictable. ( )2000 If your new to Ken Follett's work, read one of his earlier ones like 'Eye of the Needle' or 'Key to Rebecca' (or 'On Wings of Eagles' the true story of how Ross Perot put together a rescue team to get two Americans out of an Iranian jail). Of his later works, 'Pillars of the Earth', 'Night Over Water' and 'Whiteout' come to mind. This man is a prolific author with much to offer, but in my humble opinion, 'Hammer of Eden' isn't his best work by a long shot. One of Follett's earlier books. I found it an obvious read and once the detective came in the picture I knew the ending and didn't even bother to finish. I thought Jackdaws was his best book. A lot of WWII action. I liked the idea of this story however I wasn't a big fan of the way it unfolded. I also feel like it is dated, since it was written pre 9/11 and the way terrorism is handled now is a bit different. The hippie cult was a bit strange, and I wonder if there were (are) actually groups like that out there, kinda weird. The book was ok, it kept my interest like all of Follet's books, but I wouldn't recommend it he has way better books out there. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Amazon.com Amazon.com Review (ISBN 0449227545, Mass Market Paperback)The tension ratchets up quickly in this abridged reading of Ken Follett's thriller. Actor Anthony Heald--a movie (The Client, The Silence of the Lambs) and audiobook (Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil) veteran--uses a breathy, urgent delivery to spin the tale of ecoterrorist cultists and the unlikely heroes who must stop them before they hammer California with a major man-made earthquake. Follett has real contempt for his aging-hippie villains, which Heald gleefully communicates through lines of faux sagacity like, "Money makes you poor" and "Marriage is the greatest infidelity," and by having the head bad guy clear his conscience of a cold-blooded murder by reciting a nursery rhyme.
