The Bonds of Blood is a great start to the Revenant Wyrd Saga. We meet Jovian, Angelica, Amber, and Joya they are quadruplets and they have just reached their twenty-first birthday They each receive gifts that belonged to their belated mother and it isn’t long before things start going array. There are secrets to be revealed and kidnapping and what was thought to be a children’s story by the quadruplets turns out to be real. This really is a fantastic fantasy adventure. We witness the four grow up into strong adults before our eyes.
The story is slow to get started but it does get to a faster pace and I would urge people who are struggling with it to keep at it as they will enjoy it once a lot of things are put together.

Travis Simmons put a lot of thought and hard work into this book building the books world and characters.
I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the second book in the saga. ( )

I was completely drawn in from the very beginning. I felt sad for Joya, feeling like she was all alone and not quite understanding what was happening to her. I found it interesting that Jovian and Angelica were having the same visions and quests, yet they are the "normal" one's. This book was exceptionally captivating. The moment you begin reading you're immediately drawn into this richly described world. The descriptions are so vivid that you can pictures each realm and character with your minds eye. Thus far on our journey we've encountered Sprites, Fairies, a Golem, a Goddess, Sorcerers and many more creatures. If you like dark fantasy novels, this is certainly a must read for you! ( )

I received this book as a free download from the authors website. I have read several of this authors books now but I was somewhat confused with the first chapters and the formatting was off.
I believe all the names were throwing me off. The last chapter made more sense to me than the others . All and all Travis is a good writer with a vivid imagination ( )

Just be warned before you grab it:
1. This series has 6 books in it, so if you're the type who's unwilling to spend more than a certain amount on a series, do look up the prices of the other books before purchasing.
2. The good news is, all 6 books are already done and ready to go (the 6th book was still in the ARC phase as of one month ago, but I'm pretty certain by the time you get there, it'll be out)
3. This book contains A LOT of information dumping. Take that how you will.

Honestly, this world is HUGE, with tons of backstory that could have easily been a series on its own. That can be good if you're into this kind of thing, or boring if you're not.

Villains are totally villainous, complete with evil cackles and maniacal mood swings, doing evil for no better reason than for the sake of doing evil.

Heroes are super special and totally not normal. They're so special that they can be nothing else except extreme heroes or villains.

All major characters act and behave as if they are half their age.

Dialogues are scripted for the sake of advancing the plot.

Honestly, I didn't like this book at all. Normally, there would be one aspect of a book that I like despite its other failings - and unusual plot, an amazing concept, an awesome world, characters I would live and die for etc. I didn't get any of it in this book. To be fair, this is a safe book, with all the standard formula of being safe. Maybe if I read it back when I was younger and had yet to come across ground breaking authors like Brent Weeks, Peter V. Brett and GRRM, I would have liked it. But it's kind of hard to like safe formula once you've had a taste of what it's like to defy the norms. If I hadn't gotten into this madness and requested for the other 5 books in the series in the Members Giveaway, I definitely would have stopped midway. Just my two cents.
