Breaking Bad on Mars... ( )

This is totally an excuse to follow Bobbie after her book, and I unabashed endorse it as a beautiful thing. I loved this look and politics, the world, the war, Bobbie, her family, Mars (oh, god, oh, god, oh, god, I was so excited to finally see things from inside the Martian perspective, instead of just talking about Mars and the Martian Army forces).

Everyone who loves Bobbie and The Expanse series should read this novella. Definitely after Book 2 though, where it belongs in the timeline. But. Yes, yes, yes. Very much so do. ( )

Besides a bad-ass Bobbie Draper quote that made me smile, this novella about her nephew David was only OK. I’m glad I read it, because I realized the writers for the TV show had based one of Bobbie’s story arcs on something instead of nothing (which I had assumed when I was watching 4th season (I think?)). It didn’t add to my understanding of the character or the series at all otherwise. ( )

A simple slice of life story about life on Mars, featuring one of the recurring characters from the Expanse series, Bobby the marine gunner and her family. A quick read, which will probably be liked if you like the series; otherwise, maybe not. ( )

David Draper, er ungur efnilegur efnafræðingur sem hefur flækst í undirheimana við framleiðslu á fíkniefnum. Hann reynir að bjarga stúlku sem er jafnvel meira flækt í glæpastarfsemina en verkefnið er öllu erfiðara en hann áttar sig á því að frænka hans Bobbie Draper er flutt inn á heimil fjölskyldunnar eftir að hafa verið viðriðin eitthvað vafasamt í hermannaferli sínum.
Bobbie flæktist í átök fylkinga Jarðar, Mars og Beltisbúa í fyrri sögunum ásamt áhöfn Rocinante og þaðan þekkjum við hana sem hörkuhermann sem hikaði ekki við að gera það sem hjartað bauð henni.
Fín viðbót fyrir áhangendur Expanse seríunnar, hvort sem þeir lesa bækurnar eða fylgjast með sjónvarpsseríunni. ( )

All the lockers had something, though—a picture, a whiteboard, some in-joke one-liner printed on plastic and fused to the metal. Some little mark to say that this space belongs to someone in particular, someone a little—but only a little—different from the others.
“Three hundred sixty-five people miss one shift, that’s a year gone in a day, (…)”
“They don’t hate us,” Bobbie said, her voice tired. “They’re afraid of us.”“Then why do they act like they hate us?” David’s father said with something like triumph.
“Because that’s what fear looks like when it needs someplace to go.”
His mother smiled at him, and it looked like love, but it was love for some other boy. The one she thought he was. He smiled back because he was supposed to.
