Eagle Strike is a graphic novel adaptation of the written work by Anthony Horowitz. As someone who has not read the original work, this graphic novel stands on its own in the story line and artwork. Alex Rider is an angsty twelve-year-old who is supposedly trained by MI6 to help in covert missions to take down the "bad guy". In this story, though, Alex acts alone in confronting the evil dude, Damien Cray. Cray has a twisted view of how to solve the world's problems. In this instance, he believes blowing up the world's supply of drugs (and the countries where they are grown) will lead to an elimination of addiction. Nevermind the massively deadly consequences of such an action.
The illustrations and text made a story that I could easily follow and kept me involved, even though this genre is typically outside of my interest. Alex is mostly one-sided as a character. This graphic novel is action-packed and will be appreciated by those who enjoy such works. ( )
