Fighting, fighting, fighting... Preston and younger brother Tyler feel their family crumbling. Why? They were all so happy once.

That's the way Preston Scott would have described his all-American family. His parents seemed to have everything, including the ideal marriage. But then their perfect life started to unravel. Mr. and Mrs. Scott began to fight-vicious, hurtful, drawn-out battles that went on day after day. Finally one day Mrs. Scott moved out. And that's when Preston's nightmare began. Mama has a boyfriend now who CAN give her all the nice things she wants and deserves. But Danny still loved his wife and wants them to remain a big happy family. Why can she see that and want that too?

Now, three years later, Preston's dad is getting out of prison, and Preston is no closer to coming to terms with his feelings about him. Because how can you forgive your father for killing someone...especially when that someone was your mother? But grandmother and grandpa have unconditionally forgiven Danny for killing their daughter. They have even invited him to live in their home.

Here is Preston's searing true story about upheaval, growth, faith ... and the power of love and forgiveness. This unforgettable novel is a fictionalized account based on the words of the boy who experienced these events firsthand.

When I read the afterward my body was covered in chills.

This little book is excellently executed. Preston's growth is incredibly, and I think very realistic. While I certainly can't speak from experience, his anger and confusion seem so real, and his nightmares and demons truly frighten me. Tyler's story is just as chilling, and I'd honestly like to know what happens to that kid, because he's definitely messed up.

While not my favorite Neal Shusterman novel, this is still amazing and the writing is practically flawless. Even when Preston's being stupid, I can't hate him, because it all just...makes sense. His life sucks and he's confused, and when life sucks and you're confused, you tend to do stupid things until you figure it out. ( )

I thought the begining was very boring. I like mystery books or thrilling and adventurous books. I was disappionted because I thought that Neal Shusterman wrote it, I thought it would be a good book like "Unwind" throughout the book there was a mental fight in the head of the main character (who was a young boy) it drove me crazy! A heartbreaking, yet heart warming, story about a family torn by divorce. ( )
