This is the story of how the Northern Pacific Railroad influenced developments in the early days of Yellowstone National Park. The first chapters are devoted to early visitors to the Park area, railroad men scouting out the landscape, the first businesses inside the Park boundaries, and problems that the first Superintendents of the Park encountered. Hotels were built to house first visitors. The railroad paid the salaries of Frank J. Haynes, the first Park photographer, Robert Reamer, the gifted designer of depots and hotels, artist Thomas Moran, whose artwork thrilled easterners and Europeans alike. A number of United States presidents visited the Park in its early days as well as tourists from abroad, including Rudyard Kipling and the Earl of Dunraven. The book contains period numerous photos and copies of the original drawings from the Northern Pacific Railroad Company. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
