Way more teenybopper drama than To All The Ones I've Loved before but for the genre it was better than most ( ) 3 girls unite over one thing... REVENGE!! Kat's old BFF dropped her when high school started, and she's sick of Rennie making up lies and thinking she's the queen of Jar Island. Lillian's little sister has been seen around town with her (Lillian's) friend Alex... is he like a pedophile or something? And Mary? Well she's just come back to island after many years away for some good old fashion revenge on the guy who ruined her life. The three girls unite and form a little unit. It's no fun taking someone down on your own, is it? I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! Wow! First of all, it has alternating POV's which if you read my blog, you know I love. Second, I love a book with mean girls. Rennie is the ultimate mean girl and I just couldn't wait for her to fall. Mary's story confused me at first. I thought she came back to the island because she had a crush on Reeve, and it made me be like, Woah stalker-alert! But then I realized I was WAY wrong. What Reeve did to her.... I wanted him dead! Anyway the girls in this book are just so awesome, I am actually glad this is a series so I can read more about them. I hope in the next book (because yes apparently this is a series) they can stay friends and that Mary can have some happiness in her life. One of the great things about this book was that it was so many things. It was a book about friendships and revenge, but it had a supernatural element in it that reminded me of Carrie by Stephen King. It also had some awesome light hearted moments. I laughed so hard when Reeve said: I swear on your red ribbon!! And the poem that said Can we Eskimo kiss all night long... HA! Dying of laughter! Little touches like that just made this book something more! What I kind of didn't love was that these authors make you feel bad about the people that are getting burned. And even though I think that sort of adds layers to the book, I don't like feeling like the bullies of the book are the victims. I don't think I would want it changed or anything, it just makes me think. So now we get to the ending!!! Umm can you just punch me in the face now please?? It's torture!! But I SO can't wait for the next book :) My Polka Dot blog: http://pinkpolkadotbookblog.blogspot.com Though this book was about three supposedly different girls, I could barely distinguish the characters from one another and found it hard to get invested. Lillia, Kat, and Mary each have very different backstories of inclusion and exclusion and as such, I expected them to have very different voices as the book was told in first person from their various points of view. However, I constantly found that the second I looked up from the book and back down, I had no idea who was narrating. They all sounded the same. The other characters also felt rather two-dimensional, or at least extremely shallow. They barely seemed to notice Mary and Kat's return to Jar Island, or anything much more than football. I felt like they could have at least had a tad more depth to them, or some interest or passion. Lillia was the only character who occasionally felt real. Her and Alex's relationship was the only thing I was interested to see develop. I enjoyed how protective she was over her sister, and how at the same time they bickered and she sometimes wasn't very kind. These were the real moments in the book. This book killed time, but I won't be reading any further. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
