First I have to say I absolutely loved this book, Imogen Rose is a fantastic author, the storyline and character descriptions were well written and she gave you enough information to get to know each of them, and fall in love with a few. Initiation was one of those novels you don’t put down and I definitely will be following this series.

Welcome to Bonfire Academy a school for supernatural’s...we first meet Cordelia who has decided to stay for a third year at Bonfire Academy so she could build up her skills and play tennis. Her first day back she is asked to go to the student president’s office for a meeting which is very unusual as the student president is normally kept a secret throughout the year, curiosity gets the better of her and she heads to the meeting. Here we meet Jagger; he asks Cordelia if she would be interested in becoming a mentor for a new initiate, Faustine who is half human and half demon. Cordelia wants to refuse but because of the unique situation she agrees. Cordelia and Faustine are both demon princesses and Cordelia realizes that because Faustine is half human this may put her in some difficult situations with so many other supernatural’s around the school.

This story is full of mystery, suspense and a fantastic love triangle. Quinn who is Cordelia long time boyfriend is kind, caring and you fall in love with his character. Jaggar also has great qualities and knows that Cordelia and he somehow ended up synced together. The feelings that occur when they are together are intense and it appears like they have mated. So besides Cordelai dealing or should I say not dealing with all that going on in her life she still has to mentor Faustine.

When Faustine and Cordelia are attacked and strange things happen, one Cordelia dies and Faustine disappears into thin air, thank god Jaggar saves Cordelia and they find Faustine fast asleep in bed. Unsure of what happened and who attacked them Cordelia knows she needs to protect Faustine and figure out what is going on.

This story is fantastic and all I can say is it’s a must read, great beginning to what I think is going to be a superb series. The story does not focus on a lot of romance it is more action, suspense and mystery mixed with some romance. The author did an amazing job giving us a wonderful story, great characters and I cannot wait to read book two. I would recommend Initiation to all my friends and anyone who loves paranormal novels.

Review: When Cordelia Hammer returns to The Bonfire Academy to begin her voluntary third year she could never have imagined how her life would change. The Bonfire Academy is a prep school hidden in St. Moritz, Switzerland that is exclusive to the elite paranormal society. Students come from all over the world to learn how to control and develop their paranormal skills. Since Cordelia’s third year was an enrichment year, she planned to work on her tennis skills and spend time with her boyfriend Quinn. Upon her arrival, Cordelia receives a request to meet with the student council president, Jagger. In the course of their initial meeting Cordelia learns she is to mentor a young girl named Faustine, who is half demon and half human. Cordelia begins to realize that not only will she have to keep Faustine safe; she will also have to try to contain her attraction to Jagger.

Initiation begins with the opening line “Trust No One”. Imogen Rose captures the reader’s attention from that moment and does not let go. The relationship between the characters of Faustine and Cordelia deepen as the book progresses. What begins as a daunting task for Cordelia ends with a strong bond between the girls. The love triangle between Cordelia, Quinn and Jagger has the perfect amount of tension due in part to Cordelia’s loyalty to Quinn and her new love for Jagger. The secondary characters are engaging and interesting.

Imogen Rose paints a vivid picture of life at The Bonfire Academy. Her descriptions of demons, vampires, witches, shape shifters and other creatures are detailed and imaginative. This is a fast paced, well-plotted book that flows effortlessly. The elements of mystery, suspense and adventure are woven together to create a fantastic first book in the Bonfire Academy Series. ( )

I was pleasantly surprised with INITIATION. The Cover art is kinda Bleh and the blurb was interesting but not "mind blowing I have to read now" worthy. Even after reading the book I didn't fully picture Cordelia really looking like that. I guess this series and book is a prequel to another series that Imogen Rose has made. If you are worried about being lost while reading, don't be. I didn't know about the other series and wasn't lost with characters at all.

Cordelia wasn't especially excited to find out that she would be mentoring someone when she settled back into school. She was looking forward to playing lots of Tennis and hanging with her boyfriend Quinn.

Cordelia and Faustine connected right away and even though the schools number one rule is Don't trust anyone they still ended up being pretty close. I really enjoyed the action, it seemed that Cordelia was constantly on the move and was constantly fending off dire situations. The mystery left you stumped and the ending started a new mystery that got me wanting to read book 2. I liked the characters. Cordelia was fun and it was interesting learning about her abilities and what she thought of them. Jagger was mysterious and likable. I was rooting for him for Cordelia from the begging. Quinn was easy to like and I could see why Cordelia was with him but I still like her better with Jagger. There were something that left me kinda feeling like I was lost at the end. So did she end up with her boyfriend Quinn, Jagger or both? Did the boyfriend ever find out about her and Jagger being "connected"? These are things a girl needs to know!!

INITIATION definitely left me interested in finding out what happens next. I will be reading book 2 of the series when it comes out and also go and read the other series this is connected with so I can see some of the characters in the future. ( )
