This story got off to a horrible start, with the main character murdering some random guy and then saying "oh i guess you want to know how i became a super awesome vampire" and then she starts this story full of crappy dialogue and rushed historical elements, seriously boring, of how she met this guy and fell in love and he was a vampire and they get married and travel a lot and end up in Russia... and then things get really really good for about 10 pages when the narrator gets really invested in the story and it turns romantic and heroic and sweepingly comes to a beautiful conclusion that was not at all in line with the rest of the horrible story. I was utterly confused on finishing this story to find that I cared not at all for the main character but only for her lover, the vampire with a heart who sacrificed his life for her so she could become an ungrateful murdering sarcastic vampire despite not being worthy of him even a little bit. So at the end of the story we're still left wondering why the story is called Vampire Assassin and why it starts out with a description of some guy who is cheating on his wife. Two great ideas meshed into one story that consequently doesn't make very much sense. ( )

In Vampire Assassin, Samantha Warren begins the story by talking about some man named Bob and giving a complete description of him. It happens that the narrator of this book is a vampire that hires herself out as an assassin and her target is this Bob fellow, who by all accounts is a cheating, scumbag. Apparently the wife has arranged in some way to have the assassin take care of Bob and he is found dead just as planned by the wife.

OK...I like vampire novels pretty well. But this one felt very stilted. The language is way too conversational. At some points, the author is even explaining why she said or did something. Vampire Assassin is billed as a short novella....but it is more like a serial read and this one installment is like maybe the first 3 or 4 chapters.

Lets just say, I did not enjoy the story line or the writing. Just my own opinion.

This book was recommended to me by a friend...so as you can see some people do like the story line. ( )

Its hard to rate some books. This one starts talking about this guy Bob what he looks like and talking to his misstress and it would take him an hour to get home.
Then she describes how fast vampires can walk. Then follow into his garage and kills him and how and why. I really did not like much of the first part of story.
But then she talks more about her life and when she met her co-worker on a film and they fell for each other. The rest of story got me caring about Jane and Steven.
I ended up shedding tears I was into the story. I would read more about Jane and see how much I liked that book if their is a next one.
I was given this ebook in exchange for honest review. ( )

I got this book free from www.librarything.com in exchange for a review.

The book starts off with the vampire assassin telling you about one of her kills. She then starts to tell you the story about how she became an assassin. The story was interesting, but I would have liked to see more detail. The book was realitively short so could have been expanded by giving more back story about "Steven" her love and the one that made her a vampire. I would also have liked to hear why the tragic past turned her into an assassin. I felt that the book stopped in the middle of the story.

The love story is very two dimensional and could be more fleshed out, but with that being said I would still recommend the book for a vacation book. It is a good read for both teens and adults that like that kind of Fiction. ( )

This really turned me off for the first half of the book. The character is talking to you, the audience not thinking to herself. I do not like the character including me in the story so blatantly.

However, looking past that, the story started fairly interestingly, as a vampire assassin.

And then turns 360 and becomes a love story and how she turned into a vampire. Which is fine and all, but the title is "vampire assassin" and doesn't mention a reason why she became one. It just ends with the tragic love story. So while the love story was unbelievably sweet and much more realistic than the Twilight series, the story only gets three stars because of the point of view and the fact that the assassin part is never explained in this first part.

I'd probably recommend you read it if you can get past the odd point of view just for the sweet love story, but don't expect too much. The love story is very two dimensional, though sweet, because it's a memory and not happening play-by-play. I think that if it was more of a flashback, where the character was "living" in the moment it would have done a whole lot better. ( )
