In the fourth installment of this series, Harry travels back to Hogwarts and discovers a surprise, a tournament. The book main plot point is the tri-wizard tournament. The surprise is Harry being included as a fourth participant of the tournament. The number of pages makes this a book that works for middle and high schoolers. (  )1  harrisw4 | Mar 6, 2010 | Prie šių įvykių rašytoja J. K. Rowling eina ilgą 350 - 400 puslapių „kelią“, kuris „užpilamas“ silpnokais epizodėliais iš mokyklos mokytojų bei mokinių gyvenimo. Vietomis kartojami ankstesnėse knygose skaityti epizodai (žinoma, ne žodis į žodį). Prie tokių priskirčiau kvidičo rungtynių ir pamokų eigos aprašymus, mirusiųjų pasirodymus „gyvuose“ paveiksluose, elementarias dantingų, mokykloje esančių daiktų interpretacijas. Šiame tome neišraiškingas ir gana blankus Hagrido pasakojimas apie kelionę į Prancūziją ir Lenkiją, kur jis, kažkur kalnuose, surado milžinų ir vieną jų (Gropą) atsibogino į „uždraustąjį mišką“. Nuobodžiai aprašinėjama, kaip jis atrado tuos milžinus, kaip jie laužo miško medžius ir t.t.. Bet taip ir lieka neaišku, kaip jis tą Gropą, gerokai didesnį ir stipresnį už save, sugebėjo atsigabenti į „užburtąjį mišką“. Nevykusios ir neįtikėtinos scenos, kai Hermiona ir Haris tuščiais niekais apgauna diktatoriškumu susižavėjusią žynę (mokyklos direktorę, turinčią rankose burtų lazdelę) Ambridž ir, nuvilioję ją į mišką, atgauna laisvę. Per ilgai ir nuobodokai tęsiamos Sneipo ir Hario oklumantijos pamokos. Aš knygoje rasčiau ir daugiau kritikuotinų, mažai intriguojančių ir nuobodokų epizodų. Ir vis dėlto, nežiūrint mano pastabų, knyga yra įdomi ir traukia skaitantįjį. Bendrame aprašomų įvykių sraute patrauklios ir netikėtos intrigos mezgasi viena po kitos (įdomesnės ir blankesnės) ir vis galvoji – o kaip ten bus toliau, kokie sprendimai bus priimti, kaip klostysis įvykiai? Kaip teigiamą ir girtiną dalyką nurodysiu rašytojos – fantastės J. K. Rowling - sugebėjimą visus knygos epizodus rikiuoti taip, kad jų sukelta susidomėjimo banga per visą knygą turi kilimo kreivę ir patį aukščiausią tašką pasiekia knygos pabaigoje (Hario, jo draugų, Dumbldoro nuožmi kova su tamsiosiomis jėgomis). Rašytoja meistriškai naudojasi pasakų stebuklingosiomis priemonėmis realiai pasauly gyvenančių žmonių (knygos veikėjų) gyvenimams parodyti, jų charakteriams išryškinti, apskritai knygoje teikiamiems epizodams tragedizuoti. Vaikams ir paaugliams skirtoje rašytojos „poteriadoje“ įvykiai pateikiami paprastai ir suprantamai, gana ryškūs ir neabejotini „geriečiai ir blogiečiai“, ir jeigu kas iki galo nepasakoma skaitomajame puslapyje, tik todėl, kad sukeltų susidomėjimą ir viskas iki logiškos pabaigos išryškėtų tolimesniuose epizoduose. (  ) sgsmitty | Feb 19, 2010 | Lord Voldemort fait son apparition dès le premier chapitre, ce qui annonce d'emblée le côté sombre que va prendre ce tome. Harry se rend avec les Weasley à la Coupe du monde de Quidditch, mais l'issue du match Bulgarie-Irlande voit apparaître dans le ciel la marque des ténèbres qui n'a pu être faite que par un Mangemort (partisan de Voldemort). A Poudlard, le jour de la rentrée deux nouveautés apparaissent, un nouveau professeur de Défense contre les forces du mal : Maugrey Fol Oeil, qui est plus qu'étrange et l'annonce par Dumbledore que Poudlard accueillera le Tournoi des Trois Sorciers cette année. Le tournoi est une compétition entre les trois plus grandes écoles de sorcellerie : Poudlard - Beauxbâtons - Durmstrang. Chaque école est représentée par un élève de plus de 17 ans. Alors imaginez le problème quand la coupe désigne deux représentants pour Poudlard et que l'un deux n'ai que 14 ans et que ce soit Harry Potter. Ce quatrième tome est très riches, avec les différentes épreuves que les élèves doivent passer, des sentiments amoureux qui n'existaient pas vraiment encore dans le monde de Harry Potter et une journaliste très énervante, Rita Skeeter, avec sa plume à papotte (trouvaille originale de la part de Rowling). J.K Rowling fait grandir son personnage et avec apporte un côté plus sombre à sa série qui mérite mieux que le sobriquet de livres pour enfants. Readers, we will cast a giant invisibility cloak over any more plot and reveal only that You-Know-Who is very much after Harry and that this year there will be no Quidditch matches between Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Instead, Hogwarts will vie with two other magicians' schools, the stylish Beauxbatons and the icy Durmstrang, in a Triwizard Tournament. Those chosen to compete will undergo three supreme tests. Could Harry be one of the lucky contenders?
But Quidditch buffs need not go into mourning: we get our share of this great game at the World Cup. Attempting to go incognito as Muggles, 100,000 witches and wizards converge on a "nice deserted moor." As ever, Rowling magicks up the details that make her world so vivid, and so comic. Several spectators' tents, for instance, are entirely unquotidian. One is a minipalace, complete with live peacocks; another has three floors and multiple turrets. And the sports paraphernalia on offer includes rosettes "squealing the names of the players" as well as "tiny models of Firebolts that really flew, and collectible figures of famous players, which strolled across the palm of your hand, preening themselves." Needless to say, the two teams are decidedly different, down to their mascots. Bulgaria is supported by the beautiful veela, who instantly enchant everyone--including Ireland's supporters--over to their side. Until, that is, thousands of tiny cheerleaders engage in some pyrotechnics of their own: "The leprechauns had risen into the air again, and this time, they formed a giant hand, which was making a very rude sign indeed at the veela across the field."
Long before her fourth installment appeared, Rowling warned that it would be darker, and it's true that every exhilaration is equaled by a moment that has us fearing for Harry's life, the book's emotions running as deep as its dangers. Along the way, though, she conjures up such new characters as Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, a Dark Wizard catcher who may or may not be getting paranoid in his old age, and Rita Skeeter, who beetles around Hogwarts in search of stories. (This Daily Prophet scoop artist has a Quick-Quotes Quill that turns even the most innocent assertion into tabloid innuendo.) And at her bedazzling close, Rowling leaves several plot strands open, awaiting book 5. This fan is ready to wager that the author herself is part veela--her pen her wand, her commitment to her world complete. (Ages 9 and older) --Kerry Fried
