An FBI sting to sell radioactive material to terrorists goes bad, and some anti-government militiamen stage a series of attacks to show how powerless reduced-size government is in the new age. Meanwhile, now retired Patrick McLanahan, now a Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol, and his son Brad help rescue a lone air crash survivor, setting off a series of confrontations with the militiamen, which quickly escalates, rallying Jon Masters and the CID robots. Also, the Russians are still looking to kill Patrick for his role in destroying their plot for hegemony. Fun at times, but fairly predictable. ( )

Terrorism. So hot right now.

This on started really well, had good pace, plenty of interest and yet the culprit of the terrorism was blazingly obvious before the bombings even started. Super suspect rich guy suddenly locking his gates and has suspect dudes with guns as private security. He stunk to high heaven and the FBI go and concentrate their efforts on a preacher instead resulting in a colossal stuff up. What?!

If one looks past the absurdity of that, it was a good book - right up until the end where it was as if, having reached ~340 pages the author decided that was enough and just wrapped up the story in the last 36. For all the build up it was a bit of a fizzler, and I had such high hopes with radioactive dirty bombs being detonated in American cities.... FBI seeming to be dirty.... but alas it all just flopped over at the end like a soggy biscuit, such promise and story development wasted. ( )

Retired Air Force Lieutenant-General Patrick McLanahan, his 18-year-old son Bradley and a cadre of volunteers protect Nevada from a community of armed citizens who have banded together for protection, survival and to battle the government.

The book is campy but would appeal to people who love flying planes. I don't need the details of pilot /tower conversations for take off, etc. The hero is goofy and his son is a punk and a crybaby. The robots are unbelievable, and the FBI is stupid. I didn't expect to finish it, but I did. ( )

Excellent Author, but the story line not my style. ( )
