waltzmn: Frank Isaac's English and Scottish Printing Types is a catalog of typefaces linked to the printers who used them. It gives relatively little information about the printers who printed them. E. Gordon Duff's Fifteenth Century English Books is a catalog of what these early printers printed, with some typographic facsimiles but not enough to describe all the books he cataloged. The task on which the compiler of the present book set out, light-heartedly, some twenty-eight years ago, was at first limited to a short description and collation of all known fifteenth-century books, to be collected from the various bibliographical works and the catalogs of public and private libraries.
