{the last vampire} - {my thoughts} - Just in the nick of time. Sita discovers that she is still capable of making more vampire’s if she is forced into the position. However, Yaksha her creator is supposed to kill her due to the orders given to him by Krishna. This book runs through a lot of background between the characters and helps you to better understand them and the story line as it is meant to be. At the end of the book Sita discovers that she has an ability she didn’t otherwise know she had and she uses that ability as a means of saving her life. This book ends with a massive explosion.

Sita – She is a 5000 year-old vampire. She is strong, she is smart, she is manipulative, pretty and rich. She is everything that most teenage girls would love to be. The problem is she is not a teenage girl. She poses to be one, she uses everyone in her path and she manipulates them as a means of getting what she wants. She believes deep down she is a good person all things considering, that she deserves to be in Krishna’s grace, but it leaves one to wonder how a vampire can have any hopes of ever entering heaven.

Ray – Ray becomes Sita’s love toy. They meet when she enrolls herself into his local high school as a means of getting close to him. She does this once she finds out that he is possibly the only key to finding out the information that his father knew about her. Information that she has spent years covering up and hiding. He’s easily influenced and learns nothing from his mistakes.

Yaksha – He is an individual from Sita’s past. He is arrogent and full of himself. He thinks he is God’s gift to humanity. I am not very fond of him and think that he is a character that I could definitely do without reading about in the future.

Krishna - He is the Savior – God in other wards. Just assumed under a different name. I enjoy this character. He is gentle kind, forgiving and gives helpful advice. Everything you would think God would say.

Seymour - He is a nerd by all means. He is loving and he is one of Sita’s closest friends. He helps her guides her and also gives her advice and companionship.


{black blood} - {my thoughts} - This book was interesting I suppose. It helped to explain what happened to Sita and Ray at the end of the last book. It also helped to introduce new characters and elaborate some more on the old. All and all it wasn’t a bad read but I believe it could have been better.

Sita - She is completely nieve in this book. Actually she probably was in the first and I just overlooked it. She seems to do what she wants even though others tell her not to do something. She has a mind of her own and she honestly doesn’t seem to care who she hurts in the process.

Ray - He makes an appearance in the beginning of the book which helps to show a true testament of love between him and Sita.

Yaksha - He is discovered in an old ice cream truck where he talks Sita into drinking the rest of his blood while he dies. Then she is asked to get rid of his body where no one will ever find it. He is a character that trule stuck me as manipulative and self centered in the first book. However, in this one he seems to have a softer side as well as still having the desire to fight for what is right as opposed to what is wrong.

Krishna - He makes Sita promise not to make any more vampires, however she goes against him in fear that she has no other choice and thinks she is doing the right thing. This causes conflict between them. However, she does use a song that He once sang as a means of saving her life.

Joel - He is an FBI agent asigned to a case where vampires are causing lots of trouble. Little does he know that he will soon be entrapped by none other then Sita herself. Like Ray – Joel becomes putty in her hands.

Eddie - He is an aweful person that had discovered what Yaksha was. He also had an odd relationship with his mother. He truly has the serial killer personality and the boy with mommy or daddy issues on his side. He is portrayed as a complete crazy guy and it seems to work well for him.

Seymour - He appears to be Sita’s main voice of reason. When she has a problem or needs help she seems to turn to him.

{red dice} - {my thoughts} - This book was basically all about running from the FBI and breaking into a military base. It also opened up more information about Sita’s past that had not otherwise been discussed. Also, Sita makes a life altering choice at the end of this book.

Sita - She seems to think she is indestructible. She learns she has new abilities and uses them to her full out advantage. However, in the process she also ruins more peoples lives. Seems to be what she is best at.

Joel - He follows Sita around like a lost puppy. He seems to have no means of actually standing up for himself. This is a very annoying trait.

Eddie - He is no longer an issue in this book as Sita has moved onto other fish.

Andy/ Arturo - He is a vampire/ hybrid. He is from Sita’s past. He was assumed to be dead but appears to be very much alive. Him and Sita partake in sexual encounters.

Seymour - He accepts Sita for what she is. He tries to be her voice of reason. But he can only give her so much advice without her caring enough to listen to what he has to say. Honestly, I get the impression he is kind of in love with her, which seems to happen a lot – people falling in love with her. She appears to be irresistible to all men … Why should the nerdy guy be any acceptation.

{reason for reading} - I was at wal-mart and I saw this book on the shelf. I read the back and of course I bought it. I had no idea that it was an old book being republished until a friend had told me how old it actually was but aside from it being old it has an excellent story line. ( )

After hearing so many reviews about how this book sucked, I'm was slightly surprised om how much I enjoy this book, it is 3 books in one: The last Vampire, Black Blood, and Red Dice. A 12 book series put in 4 books. OK so again I really enjoyed this book, I want to get the next book in the series, and will soon. I can't wait to read more of Sita and the hell she goes through constantly. This poor woman, you can't help to feel bad for her at times. Always stuck in a rut, and all because she loves to much, and especially loves her God too much (which is why she is always stuck in a rut), plus she is desperately trying to keep humankind from destroying itself as well. I love her flash backs of her life, I love the action, and I love the fact she loves things that explode lol. ( )

Not the best book in the world. Not the worst, but definitely not the best.
The writing style on this was just weird, if you ask me. And the entire time, I felt disconnected from the main character. Not a good sign.
Also, I did not believe her and Ray’s love story. At all. At one point, the main character said some thing like “Because I am five thousand years old, I tend to make my relationships happen very fast. So, even though I’ve only known Ray and Seymour for a day, I already consider them both friends.”
I feel like the author put this in there to justify her declaring her love for Ray one day later.
I didn’t believe it.
Yes, I get that he is the reincarnation of her husband, Rama. But that when love story was told to us, I didn’t believe that one either. “I saw him and it was like I knew.”
In fact, I have created a list of all the love stories mentioned in this book in order of which ones I find most believable and like the best.

Yes, Yaksha is at the top of that list. I happen to like Yaksha. A lot.

I did enjoy all the Indian mythology in this book. It reminded me of the book I had that I hadn’t read since middle school, Stories from India by Anna Milbourne.
Also, I’m not sure if anyone else noticed this, but she met Ray, fell in love with him, and less than a week later, he was dead. The Same Thing Happened With Joel. Coincidence? I think not. (I don’t believe in coincidences)
Will I read the rest of this series? Yes, probably. Eventually. In the meantime, I have other things to read, however.

I read a few Christopher Pikes in middle school, so when I saw that he'd done a vampire novel (twenty years or so after he wrote it and I'd done my Christopher Pike reading), I was pretty curious. I wasn't disappointed, though I'm not sure when (or if) I'll read the rest of the series. He had a different take on vampires, but he also had a depth and kind of a spirituality to his story that isn't seen in most YA novels. He's a pretty unique author, even now. ( )
