A good read, i figured out the story too soon which was a bit of a down for me but it was easy reading and much like Shiver (wolves of mercy falls) which i also enjoyed.
this could have easily been a 5 star rating but i felt the author gave everything away too soon. And though the book never dragged it never really went anywhere.
Im reading Dark Hearts Rising now and so far it seems to be good =] ( )

Liked it. It was quite good. Gave it three stars because things only got to happen halfway through the book and I was getting bored with Jane, actually. I found Luca to be such a sweetheart and then he got all sexy and male in the end that I was totally sold. It is a good book to take your mind off of day to day life and a pleasent distraction too. I will be reading the second book though, because I read very good reviews about it and I reccomend that people give this one a chance. ( )

You know, I just didn't buy into this book as much as I thought I would. I really liked it in the beginning, since both Jane and Luca manage to narrowly avoid the stereotypes set forth by the many YA authors that have come before them. I was pleased that, despite Luca's revelation, the author managed to avoid the macho Alpha Male role he could have easily fallen into, and Jane is a moderately interesting protagonist. Not really the most complex I've read, but neither is she delving into Bella Swan territory.

So why didn't I like it more? Well, to be honest, the storyline is convoluted as hell, and doesn't always make sense. Jane and Luca suffer from the all-too-common InstaLove phenomenon, but then Luca spends the rest of the book insisting they can't be together. (Which would be more believable if he'd stop stalking her, but whatever.) Jane then starts spending time with bad boy Evan, who unfortunately does fit the cliched Alpha Male mold. A love triangle in YA PNR, who would have thought? /sarcasm

Where it gets even trickier is the so-called plot. As it turns out, Evan is really the son of the angel Jane's mother had a long-ago fling with prior to getting married. Since Evan's father has disappeared, he's apparently convinced himself that Jane's mother is to blame and schemes to somehow take out his revenge on Jane. This seriously makes zero sense, particularly considering how much TIME AND EFFORT he puts into this. Just kill somebody and move along.

Lastly, the ending is anti-climactic and flat. Luca, a werewolf, naturally races to the rescue, despite his family attempting to lock him up for getting involved with a human. Once he gets there to rescue the damsel in distress, he, his sister, and Jane's mother all reveal that Evan is wrong, and his father didn't abandon his family because of his prior fling with Jane's mother (yes, I know this is confusing to follow).

Once he realizes this, Evan leaves. That's it. The big, bad werewolf hurries to rescue his quasi-girlfriend, only to talk to the attempted murderer briefly and send him on his way. Luca then announces he must "deal with his family" before committing to Jane, and vanishes. No offense, Luca, but you aren't really striking me as the deal-with-problems-head-on kinda guy right now.

This ending basically left me with more questions than answers. Where DID Evan's father go? Why CAN'T Luca and Jane be together? And just how much longer is this story going to drag on? ( )

This carried on a simple plot but was dynamic in it. I really got into this book real fast. It was easy to read and very easy to fall into. The first thing that really grab you is the storyline. I like how it started off with haunting dreams and sleepwalking. It made you more interested in this book to see where exactly this girl is walking too.

Jane is like a girl like no other. She carries to her own tune and doesn't let anyone tell her otherwise. She has very good observations in her surroundings and figures out things fast. Right away she figures out that things are what they seem with Luca. And it was no surprise that she took everything in with stride. But with Even she didn't catch on to things so fast.

What I like most about this story is how the past came back to her mother. Yup, that was twist. I really like how the mother played am important role in the past desicions she made. It really makes Jane's decisions even harder. Make the same mistake her mother made or do something different. I really like how both the mother and Jane had the same feelings in which their heart should go. It was like the past was repeating itself.

Dark Heart Forever is a dark book with a haunting secret just dying to get out. The characters were raw so you saw them develop right before your eyes and unveil many news things. The reader is immerse in two different worlds fighting for many things. Love and Revenge! ( )
