Acerca de míDo you BAFAB? Book lovers should check out my site http://www.buyafriendabook.com, which aims to promote good reading and good karma by establishing four Buy a Friend a Book Weeks per year--the first weeks of January, April, July, and October. Check it out! The site runs on good will--mine and hopefully yours as well: please spread the word!

Another site of interest, just released in April, 2007: TwitterLit!

What is TwitterLit? Twice a day, at about 12:00 AM and 12:00PM GMT, I post the first line of a book, without the author's name or book title, but with a link (to Amazon.com) so you can see what book the line is from. Why? Because it's fun! A quick literary teaser for you twice daily. The posts are also available for subscription via RSS and Twitter.

Now, on to me: I'm the mother of two little girls and the author of Trying Neaira: The True Story of a Courtesan's Scandalous Life in Ancient Greece (Yale University Press, 2003: see http://www.tryingneaira.com). Of late--well, since 1996 when I first made a web site--my presence on the web has expanded and is quite out of control. I have a number of blogs, but the principle ones are http://www.book-blog.com (book reviews) and http://www.the-deblog.com ("observations from my subterranean lair," as I say). If you go to either you'll see links to my other sites.

Acerca de mi bibliotecaCurrently I'm listing on LibraryThing only those books that I have reviewed at book-blog.com, my book review site.

I've not only found the germen translation. Also the Speech edited by the translator Kai Brodersen (together with Antiphon's 'Against the Stepmother'). Together both books realy fascinating. Brodersen say's there too, that your book actually is the best about this theme.

Now I'm waiting for other translations. The 'Bibliotheca Classica Batava'-book about the athenian Generals sounds good. But my english is not good enough for such hard stuff to read the original. More than the Originals of Harry Potter are not possible to read for me. my English is simply too bad... - but I hope for a translation.
Thanks for your Neaira-Book. Because of that it was possible for me to write a big article about her (and some others arount her process) in the german-language Wikipedia. First I could not belive to find such a book.

Hey, MD, that's fantastic. What did the title wind up being?
Hi Deb. M. D. from Life's Weirder than Fiction. My contest during the latest BAFAB netted me the next title in my SF Mystery series and gave me the idea for NaNoWriMo 2006 (which I've completed, BTW). So, thanks for the idea and the chance to participate!
Hi Deb. Thanks for your welcome message. Am still setting stuff up, but looking forwrd to writing about all the books I read here. Am lovin' Library Thing. And so nice to know I already have a pal here! Sian
I liked your review of The Amadeus Net. Nice to know I'm not the only one who read it. Mark's a really nice guy, and deserves the kudos.
Just wanted you to know I've participated in every BAFAB day since the beginning! I love the concept! All my friends are surprised when I bring in books for them!
