I couldn't get into Angel's Game as much either. I just finished The Gargoyle....it was amazing, wasn't it...a little boring at first, but WOW after that. I just started the Poisonwood Bible...thanks for letting me know about it...looking forward to it. We have similar likes in books.

Have you read The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton? That is good too. Other favorites of mine: Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, The Thirteenth Tale, The Tenth Gift, One Thousand White Women. The Tea Rose and The Winter Rose by Jennifer Donnelly. So many books....so little time.
