Acerca de míI have been an avid reader all my life (perhaps that's why English was my undergraduate major)and cannot find enough time to read everything that interests me. As the saying goes "so many books, so little time". I travel extensively both for work (mostly in the U.S.)and pleasure (mostly international) and that seems to be when I find the largest blocks of time for reading. Travel also provides opportunities to learn about new books and authors. I've gotten involved with some non-profits that promote reading and literacy (The Reading Connection, First Book, Turning the Page, DonorChoose), all of which include in their missions encouraging children to read more. I participate in a neighborhood bookclub, which has provided an opportunity to not only share books and ideas, but also to get better acquainted with neighbors. I also enjoy sharing books with co-workers, particularly books they might not otherwise know about or read. I look forward to retirement, when reading for work doesn't interfere with reading for personal interest and pleasure.

Acerca de mi bibliotecaThe library is extensive and wide-ranging, with what some might regard as an eclectic mix -- everything from politics, history, and economics to world literature, photography, and poetry. Our house is overflowing with books and I am trying to find ways to thin the stacks. While some may regard me a "traitor", I have come to love my Kindle and will likely acquire more books electronically than in hard copy in the future. We now have 3 Kindles in our household, which gives us the capacity to add 6500 books to our library without installing another bookshelf!

So how is it that you have the Superferry Chronicles? I have it because it was written in part by a friend and neighbor of mine at my Hawaii vacation cottage. "Lobsang" appears to have it because he is somehow connected to Hawaii, to judge by the Hawaii-oriented books he has.
Hi Mom,

I am following in your footsteps - uploading my own library.
